Remember that saying this:
(a + b)2 = (a2 + b2)
Is not the same as saying this:
(a + b)2 =
(a + b)(a + b)
Why? Because you can NEVER distribute the exponent into the
parentheses if the parenthesis contains more than one term.
Transformations:
Axis of symmetry is found by completing the square, and the
vertex is found by using the h/k components found from completing the square.
Remember, when you have a number inside a parenthesis, you
go the opposite direction of the sign.
