This section, we'll be talking about probability.
Probability and statistics are NOT the same thing. We'll cover statistics later.
Most of what we understand about probability come from people involved in gambling.
You'll be expected to know that a standard deck of cards has 52 cards in it, and a typical die has 6 sides.
You must always reduce a fraction. If your teachers told you that you didn't have to, they didn't know math.
You'll get to use a calculator for this section, but you will also want to show as much work as possible. Remember to bring your calculator to class and the test!

Total probability always equals 100% or 1. This is a fundamental principle of probability; the most that something can happen is 100% of the time.
Probability = event/sample space.
Trial - Doing something once.
Experiment - Multiple trials.
GUESS WHAT? There's a 65% chance that 2 people in a room of 28 people will share the same birthday (not year, just month and day).
Remember that probability has no memory. If you haven't rolled a 2 for 50 rolls, you're not "due" to roll a 2 soon. It's no more likely that you'll roll a 2 now than it was for the last 50 rolls.
Don't make tree diagrams on your test. Use the fundamental counting principle!
